BOULDER, Colo. (Jan. 17, 2019) – Cozy Coats for Kids has helped Curtis Jenkins, a bus driver for Lake Highlands Elementary School in Dallas, Tex., who, with the help of some other community members, purchased Christmas gifts for each child who rides his bus.
When Cozy Coats for Kids Founder Nick Gromicko first heard of what Mr. Jenkins did for the children, he tracked him down and offered to pitch in for the gifts he bought. Mr. Jenkins accepted the contribution.
Mr. Jenkins’s act of kindness resonates with Mr. Gromicko’s founding belief for Cozy Coats for Kids. Starting in 2004, before Cozy Coats for Kids became an official 501(c)(3) charity, Mr. Gromicko has purchased and delivered hundreds of brand-new winter coats for kids in need every winter.
Along with contributing financially, Mr. Gromicko has offered to provide a brand-new winter coat to every child in need on Mr. Jenkins’ route through Cozy Coats for Kids.
Update: Thirteen coats were delivered directly to Mr. Jenkins, who distributed them to the children! Most children received a 3-in-1 coat, which consists of two jacket layers that zip together. This ensures the children are comfortable and warm during the high and low temperatures.
