BOULDER, Colo. (Dec. 16, 2025) — Cozy Coats for Kids® is pleased to announce another successful coat distribution in partnership with Habitat for Humanity® of Chemung County, bringing warmth to local children this winter season. Students and young children connected to the Habitat for Humanity® network each received a brand-new winter coat selected specifically for them at no cost to their families. Every child had the opportunity to request their favorite colors and styles, ensuring each coat not only provides warmth but also brings excitement and personal connection during the harsh upstate New York winter.
Family Services Coordinator Sheila Russell has been instrumental in making this initiative a success, serving as the vital link between families and Cozy Coats for Kids®. She collected individual coat preferences from each family and managed the distribution process. Through her efforts, children in the community receive coats that fit their needs while families experience relief during a financially challenging time of year.
Following this year’s delivery, Russell shared:
“The families asked me to please extend their gratitude for the new coats. They will keep the kids warm during the cold upstate New York winters. We truly appreciate all that Cozy Coats for Kids does to warm the hearts of our families.”
Habitat for Humanity® of Chemung County also provided photos to accompany this year’s delivery, capturing children happily receiving their new winter coats and the positive impact this program continues to have throughout the community.
This partnership was initially coordinated by longtime InterNACHI® member and home inspector John Bowman, whose business is based in Elmira, New York. While some coat requests come in from the general public, the majority are submitted by members of the inspection profession. Together, these contributions help ensure that children in need across the country receive warm, new coats each winter.
