BOULDER, Colo. (Dec. 18, 2024) — Cozy Coats for Kids® has once again partnered with the Family Resource Schools (FRS) Program to meet the needs of families in their network. The FRS works directly with families to identify children in need of new coats. Through the Annual Coat Delivery Program, each family provided their child’s favorite color and style, and the charity strives to match those exact specifications— ensuring every child knows that their coat was chosen just for them.
The coordinators and volunteers at FRS have described that the impact of the coat program has provided much-needed assistance to the children and their families. They said that many children have arrived at school without coats, with some even wrapped in blankets. “The children are so happy when they receive their coats!” said FRS Coordinator Claudia Urrutia.
The coat distribution process also brought heartwarming moments. Urrutia shared a story she heard from one of the volunteers of a young student who held her new coat in awe, asking whether it was really hers to take home. When she was told it was hers to keep, she jumped in the air with a big smile, exclaiming her thanks.
Feedback from families and children highlights how much these coats mean. Beyond providing warmth, the coats have a lasting impact. “Cozy Coats makes a huge difference for families,” said Urrutia. “They not only provide warmth for the child, but they, in turn, help with school attendance and ease the financial strain for families.”
Cozy Coats for Kids® delivers brand-new winter coats to children nationwide by partnering with schools, charities, and organizations that work directly with families in need. The charity’s focus is to provide coats based on each child’s preferences, which ensures that they feel special.
